South Second Street Rainbow Flag Decorations

The purpose of the 2nd Street Flag Project is multifold.  Beyond beautifying the neighborhood by creating public art, a sea of color along its 15 block route, it will identify our Walker's Point community as one celebrating its diversity.

As in many of Milwaukee's revived areas such as the Third Ward, Brady Street, Riverwest, and Bay View's Kinnickinnic Avenue, the combined efforts of a broad spectrum of citizens have contributed to the revitalization of one of Milwaukee's oldest and most historic neighborhoods. Residential and business development, restaurant and bars, community and arts centers have sprung up in a wave of entrepreneurial enthusiasm that promises to continue unabated.

The addition of the rainbow flags will attract more visitors and new residents alike, pushing forward the appeal, attraction and value of the neighborhood.

Installation will take place in May just in time for PrideFest and a bigger and better Pride Parade.
