2009 Grand Marshall

You Spoke and we Listened. Throughout the Grand Marshal search the pride parade received numerous suggestions for many great people.  But One stood out among them all, Michael Lisowski.

Michael has been involved in the GLBT community in Milwaukee for over 30 years.  In 1977 Michael became the Vice President of the Gay People's Union (GPU), he has, and still is, the director of Gay Youth Milwaukee, which is the premier, pioneer Youth Organization, for 20 years.

In 1987 Michael got involved with Tri-Cable Tonight, which aired roughly three times per month and covered Gay and Lesbian issues of the time.  This program caught local and national attention, winning numerous awards in each venue.

But this was just the beginning of his television career.  In 1992 He set out and created the Queer Program, which is now in it's 17th year.  The queer programs mission statement is to "Heighten Wisconsin's Queer Communities."

Michael has also been involved with the largest Pride event in the Midwest and maybe in the country.  That's right Pridefest.  Michael served as Co-Chair of the Pridefest board from 1993-2003.  He is also an active member of SAGE and the LGBT Community Center.
