Alcoholic Beverages are not permitted in the route per Wisconsin Law. See your prefered tavern along the route to purchase and enjoy your alcoholic beverages. *Alcohol is not permitted on, or in, any unit of the Milwaukee Pride Parade.
The Milwaukee Pride Parade is a Rain or Shine event, so please dress and prepare accordingly.
\\WHY DOESN'T THE PARADE GO TO THE FESTIVAL
There is no simple answer to this, but the jist of it is that the pay off simply isn't there. To go through the 2nd street area which supports the parade to the festival grounds requires closing not only street access but water access as well as certain bridges would need to be closed. This adds significant costs to the parade both monetarily and logistically which would require significant increases in volunteers and fundraising to overcome. Unfortunatly, we simply cannot overcome those obstacles at this time. We do review this idea from time to time to see if anythign has changed to make it viable.
\\ARE THERE SHUTTLE BUSSES TO AND FROM THE FESTIVAL TO THE PARADE
Currently there are no shuttle busses planned to run a route from the festival to the parade which are operated by the Milwaukee Pride Parade. However, many taverns along the route do offer shuttle services of their own.
\\HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RUN THE PARADE
While this cost changes each year the rough numbers are about $10,000.00 each year. You can see how it breaks down in our 2016 budget.
\\IS THE PARADE GOVERNED BY ANY RULES OR BYLAWS
We are! The Milwaukee Pride Parade is operated by a Board of Directors who self elect and expand as required. To learn more about our policies and procedures take a read through our bylaws.
